Chelsea are closing in on the signing of Christopher Nkunku ahead of next summer’s transfer window.
The Blues are looking to bolster their attacking line as they aim to kick on under the ownership of Todd Boehly, with Frenchman Nkunku seen as the perfect addition.
That deal has moved a step closer with journalist Fabrizio Romano revealing Chelsea have agreed a fee with RB Leipzig for the player.
The fee attached to the deal is more than £52million with the structure of the transfer also agreed to ensure that payments are easier to make.
Romano reports that Nkunku has already completed a medical and will sign a long-term contract that will begin in June 2023.
It’s been an impressive season for the 25-year-old, having scored 17 goals in 23 appearances for RB Leipzig this term.
Unfortunately for Nkunku, the forward had to withdraw from France’s World Cup squad as a result of an ankle ligament injury picked up just days before the competition got under way.
As a result, the Bundesliga player of the year is set to be out until the New Year at the earliest and may even require surgery on the injury.
