Phil Foden is brimming with confidence and showed it during an England training session ahead of the Senegal game.

Picking up the ball, Foden skipped around a challenge from City teammate Kalvin Phillips before finding the net from a tight angle with a cute backheel finish.

While fans of Pep Guardiola’s side are used to seeing these flicks and tricks on a regular basis, England fans will be looking forward to seeing it on a more regular basis.

After being named on the bench for England’s opening two group stage fixtures at the World Cup, Foden started in the Three Lions’ 3-0 victory over Wales to secure top spot in Group B.

Following on from that display, talkSPORT understands that Gareth Southgate is set to put his faith in Foden for England’s last-16 clash with Senegal.

This comes after he found the net against Rob Page’s side and showed how his ability to unlock a defence could prove to be invaluable.

Given that this is a sneak peak into what Foden is showing in training, it was only ever going to be a matter of time until Southgate put his trust in the star on the grandest stage in world football.
